Thank you for your interest in becoming a RED DOT Project Artist Member.

The Project:

The RED DOT Project is an exciting initiative, new to Northeast Ohio, which is:

  • establishing a central source for access to regionally-generated visual art
  • providing expanded sales and marketing opportunities for artists working in the region
  • allowing easy access to regional art by a wide range of potential buyers
  • featuring a very large amount and extensive variety of art through a web based portable gallery
The RED DOT Project is not just another gallery, with exhibition area limited by wall space. Instead, the project contains stacks of drawers, holding portfolios of flat or nearly flat small and medium sized artworks, making it possible to view many works being created by many artists, all in one central location. Three dimensional pieces are considered as well. The pieces, produced by artists in the region, are offered at a wide range of price points, and are able to be seen and touched by potential buyers. A website provides remote access to the art, and a virtual, portable digital gallery takes the art and artists out to potential clients. The project serves as an art resource for business, corporate, and individual clients, as well as, gallery owners, curators, and art consultants looking for art to purchase, sell, display or exhibit.

Artist members are selected through an artists peer review process. The accompanying application and digital images will be reviewed for inclusion in our drawers and website and offsite digital presentation. The peer review process occurs six times per year with the first date in October 2005. The annual membership fee is $75. Discount rates are offered for partner companies and affiliates.

The Benefits:

  • 10-15 pieces on consignment in the flat file drawers
  • website presence including rotating 3-5 images
  • negotiated discounts with Artists of Cleveland for Creative Services (www.artistsofcleveland.com)
  • processing of personal Mastercard/Visa sales
  • consigned works are presented to potential buyers with a virtual web based gallery
  • referrals to representing galleries, as appropriate
The Work:
  • Flat works on paper including drawings, paintings, prints, photography, really anything flat
  • 3-dimensional works are offered on the web based gallery presented to clients
The Application:

  • 6 electronic images of your work with complete descriptions for each image
  • Artist statement or bio
  • $25 jury fee to be applied to membership fee upon acceptance The Extras:
    • Artist statement / bio are made available to potential consumers
    • CD of additional images (not limited to flat work) are kept onsite for prospects
    • Referrals offered to representing galleries
    • Rotation of artwork required twice a year
    • Email communication preferred
    • Representing Northeast Ohio residents (Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain, Medina, Summit counties)
